Police in Manassas City, Virginia wanted to force a 17-year-old boy to pose nude with an erection. According to The Washington Post, the teenage boy was dating a 15-year-old classmate.
The 15-year-old girl sent him nude photos of herself. In response, the boy allegedly sent the girl a video of his erect penis. Police arrested the 17-year-old boy and he faces two felony charges for producing child porn. If convicted, he could be in jail until the age of 21. The girl was not arrested.
After his arrest, police officers forced him to take off his pants and photographed his penis without his consent. But the police needed to obtain a photo of his erect penis to be sure that he was in the video that was sent to the girl.
The boy was released, but police officers attempted to obtain a warrant that would force the boy to visit a hospital where he would be injected with a drug that would cause him to get an erection. The officers wanted to take photos of his erect penis.
The story made national headlines and the police in Manassas City were criticized for creating their own child porn in order to convict a child of child porn. The law is intended to stop adults from exploiting kids. It wasn’t created to prevent relationships between two high school kids.
Apparently, the backlash caused the police to reconsider and they decided to drop the plan. The teenager could possibly sue the police department for initially photographing his penis without a warrant or his consent.
