Bill Cosby has been absent from the television landscape for far too long. Now word comes out of Hollywood that his new project will be ready by the summer of 2015. The new show has not yet been named, but according to NBC, it will follow a traditional family oriented sitcom with multiple cameras.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt indicated that a lot is riding on Cosby and a return to a format that has become a lost art among writers and producers in television. Greenblatt said the network is trying to bring back this classic “multi” form, which goes back to “I Love Lucy” and the earliest days of network television.
Cosby is now 77 years old and has not lost his relevance in the black community. His hit program, “The Cosby Show,” premiered almost 30 years ago and the role of the traditional black father figure has been missing from major network television.
