Starbucks and Oprah Winfrey named in discrimination and harassment suit

A Starbucks customer, Vernon Charles Allen Merriweather, has filed suit against Oprah Winfrey and the American global coffee company and coffeehouse chain, claiming that when he ordered Oprah’s Chai tea last Fall in Buffalo, New York, the staff spiked his drink with hallucinogenics, heroin and Ambien.


According to TMZ, Merriweather also claims that “when he applied for a job (during a different visit) at the Starbucks — he was told, ‘We don’t hire n******’– and the baristas called themselves an Aryan nation.”

Oddly enough, Merriweather’s Oprah Chai tea was allegedly spiked six months prior to its debut. The lawsuit continues by slapping Starbucks, Oprah Winfrey and two Buffalo, New York colleges with discrimination and harassment. Merriweather has requested that those named in the lawsuit recieve diversity training in addition to a $15 million payday.
