Wayne County Circuit Court judge Wade McCree had an affair with the ex-wife of a defendant in a child support case he presided over. McCree sexted Geniene La’Shay Mott from the bench, had sexual encounters in his chambers with her and gave her thousands of dollars. The poor ex-husband, Robert King, was ordered to pay a hefty child support payment and to wear a tether.
King believes his civil rights were violated because of the judge’s “desires for sexual gratifications.”
U.S. 6th Circuit Judge R. Guy Cole concluded on Monday, July 28, in a 24-page decision that while McCree’s actions were “often reprehensible,” he is immune from lawsuits under a longstanding doctrine of judicial immunity — judges can’t be sued by litigants.
King’s attorney Joel Sklar is taking this case to the Supreme Court.
