Remy Ma released from prison after 6 years

VH1 Hip Hop Honors - Arrivals

Bronx, New York,  rapper Remy Ma is home. The former Terror Squad member came home early this morning after serving a six-year prison sentence at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women in New York. According to reports, Remy’s husband, rapper Papoose, her manager, and family and friends were waiting to greet her as soon as she emerged from the prison.

Remy, born Reminisce Smith, was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2008 after she shot an associate that she believed had robbed her during an altercation. Her sentenced was shortened to six years.

She spoke last week about coming home and praised the current alpha-female in hip-hop, Nicki Minaj, for her success.

“Nicki has always been a supporter and vice versa,” Remy told Power 105’s Angie Martinez. “I like what she does. She’s done wonderful things for females, but I just wish there were more of them. I don’t know what they’re doing; they’re letting these guys take over.”
