Mariah Carey parts ways with longtime friend and manager, Jermaine Dupri
The “Hero” hit maker who hired Dupri last fall, reportedly split from the super-producer early this week following a difference of opinion in regard to Mimi’s comeback album Me.
In a brief statement to Billboard, Dupri touched on his decision to resign …
“I’m a very hands-on person when it comes to my work. I put my all into every project. But when I’m not allowed to do what I do, then I know it’s time for me to move on. Mariah and I enjoy working together and will continue to make great music together in the future.”
Dupri jumped on board with Carey during the creation of her 14th studio album, Me. I Am Mariah … The Elusive Chanteuse, which to date has only sold 103,000 copies. We’re assuming that the record’s horrible debut in May is the reason behind the broken partnership.
Carey will now reportedly work with Def Jam Recordings president Kevin Liles, who is also linked to Jay Z and Ludacris. –ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
