Film and television star Harry Lennix creates new production company

Veteran film and television star Harry Lennix is making big movies behind the scenes in an effort to bring more quality projects to the big screen.

The star of NBC’s hit The Blacklist just formed a new company called Exponent Media Group with his longtime business partner Steve Harris. Lennix told Variety that he decided he “needed to take control” if he wanted to ensure certain things make it to the masses.

“It wasn’t easy to get this far — Steve and I are just two guys from Chicago,” Lennix said. “What we want to do is to make good quality films that we actually want to make for a price.”

The first projects to be released under the new venture will be a hip interpretation of Shakespeare’s Henry IV simply entitled H4, and a gospel concert movie starring rising star Mali Music that Lennix says will be mix between Jesus Christ Superstar and The Wiz.

Lennix and Harris are also putting together a team of investors for funding in hopes of putting out five more movies over the next three years.

According to Lennix, the move behind the scenes was a necessary step.

“I would love to just keep acting but I’m forced to make business for myself,” he admitted. “And because of the improvements in production equipment, costs have gone down. I just wish I’d thought of this 20 years ago.”
