What inspired you to start your business?
Me. I always have been into fashion but the thing about me is…..don’t get me wrong what girl doesn’t dream about couture?! But high fashion isn’t really my thing I’m a tomboy just as much as an girlie girl so when I started my brand I knew I wanted it to be a reflection of me and the things I love and the only way I could express both of my personalities to me was threw t-shirts.
What about the retail business do you enjoy the most?
Oh God, where do I start? The thing I enjoy most is my customer’s reaction and love for my brand I love to hear them say oh that’s dope or that’s hot it makes me feel connected to them and a way that they understand me and my craft I love my brand…and I’m sensitive about my ish…lol it’s like my baby I’m enjoying watching it grow it’s an amazing experience.
Who did you know that was in this business before you started your business? No one and I knew absolutely nothing about starting a business I learned everything I know from Google and I tell those who come to me seeking advice that when started my business Google was my best friend lol. And till this day I’m still learning it’s definitely a process.
How does the fashion industry play a role in your business?
It plays a major part although Pink Kissz is mainly a t-shirt line I still like to stay on top of what’s trending to keep my customers updated on what’s hot but I like to add the style of a PK doll to it which is pretty but gangsta.
Where do you find the influence that speaks to the product lines you carry?
I’m a 80’s baby I grew up listening to Tupac Shakur and Aaliyah they played a major role in my life growing up and like I said before I wanted PK to be a reflection of me so I merge my two personalities together and came up with the concept and slogan when pretty meets gangsta and I showcase that in each design to show girls like me or who share the same interest and personality that’s its ok to be you. It’s also about being content with who you are.
How would you describe your product mix?
I think PK is the best of both worlds far as personality goes it’s fun it’s edgy its girlie and it was created to be worn either way whether you want to dress up or dress down, I know my daily battle in life in the mornings is deciding whether I’m going to wear my Christian Louboutins or my Jordans lol I prefer my jays lol I don’t know what can I say I’m a sneaker head at heart but whatever I decided to wear know with a piece from PK it will be really dope no matter what.
Describe the type of person that should patronize your business?
Anyone that has those two personalities or that just appreciates the creativity of my brand.
What are some of the special requests you get from customers?
I am very open to my customer’s opinions and anything they request if it’s possible I’m going to make sure I address it because they are who makes it all possible for PK. But the main request I get is when I come out with a new design and it is introduce on a certain type of t-shirt style and they prefer to order the same design different style shirt they will ask like…hey I really like the 80’S baby top but can I get it on a tank top instead of a sweatshirt minor things like that but PK is all about excellent customer service and I try to accommodate them in any way that I can because I truly do appreciate them and their support.
Fashion says what about a person?
Depends on the person some people use fashion to express their self; creativity, spiritually and in some case religion again it all depends on the person. I personally use fashion as an expression of my personality, or my mood goofy and fun is usually bright neon color which is me all the time, causal working women I usually go for the nudes on a relax day sneakers blue jeans and a tank.
How often should someone add to his or her wardrobe?
As often as PK drop a new design lol.
How important are accessories?
I believe a great accessory can make an outfit but I’ve also seen people over accessorize if the outfit is dramatic I think you should keep the accessories simple and vice versa.
What role does color play in creating a mood with attire?
I base color off how I feel depending on my mood that day or at the time I choose my colors accordingly. But I am a huge fan of neon colors; I love bright the brighter the better it’s every fun for me.
How do you keep up with the fashion world?
Magazines, blogs and being into fashion as a profession.
What are your favorite fashion and style markets and why?
I’m a simple girl .I love a stunting outfit but can also be worn on a chill day I love an pointe toe heel with some boyfriend jean an amazing bag and a simple top.

Actress Lashonte Heckard, pop singer Rihanna and the late great Aaliyah are all my favorites.
