Every August, the Los Angeles City Birthday Celebration commemorates the anniversary of the founding of the City of Angels in 1781. This family-friendly event begins with the annual Los Pobladores historic re-enactment, a nine-mile walk from San Gabriel Mission to El Pueblo de Los Angeles (now known as Olvera Street). Los Angeles City Birthday Celebration activities continue with a civic ceremony, artisan demonstrations, live entertainment, and free birthday cake.The 2014 Los Angeles City Birthday Celebration is free for all ages.
