Travis Steele is the business savvy promoter who had the fortitude to team with Grammy Award-winning songwriter and “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss, who executive produced and stars in the musical, A Mother’s Love, for a 29-city tour.
“We hit if off during the first meeting,” Steele speaks of meeting with Burruss and co-executive producer Todd Tucker to form this partnership.

You know the rest. Even though Steele is a fan of “RHOA,” it was his wife who told him to make the move.
“My wife brought this play to my attention and we researched the editorial reviews and the clips,” says Steele who has been promoting shows since the late ’90s.
His company, Theatrical Works Live, is based in Columbus, Georgia, where he and a group of friends came together to do street and talent show promotions. “Collectively, we have a background in theater and music. One thing led to another, we decided to write a play. We grew from a small building to booking national acts at the Civic Center.”
The national acts include award-winning stars like R. Kelly, Keyshia Cole, Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Rick Ross.
Steele, as aforementioned, is no stranger to music or theater. “I’ve been in the music business since 1993. I managed the Columbia Records act, the Hilltop Players, which included my younger brother. My candle was lit for theater in 1999 when Ralph Tresvant performed in the show Sugar Daddies. I knew then I wanted to write plays.”
The multicity musical tour for the stage play A Mother’s Love kicked off on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, in Columbus, Georgia. It will make stops in major cities like Miami, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New York City among others.
“I advise everyone to get tickets in advance,” he shares. “Kandi, Mama Joyce and Todd Tucker have a lot of fans who are excited to be able to keep up with their favorite ‘RHOA’ star. People want to know, ‘What is Mama Joyce doing? What’s going on with Todd?’ ”
