Earlier this week, reports revealed that “Love & Hip Hop NY” star Tahiry had been assaulted by a male production manager at New York Fashion Week. Since then, the reality star has been mum on the subject. But yesterday, she confirmed the news and shared her side of the story in the violent attack.

As previously reported, Tahiry was backstage at the Toure Designs fashion show on Monday, Sept. 8, getting prepped to walk the runway when she was attacked by production manager Carlos Gonzales after a verbal confrontation.

“Tahiry questioned Carlos as to why he was being so rude to her, which triggered him to ‘black out’ on her, spewing foul commentary as he walked closer to her. After Tahiry warned him not to speak to her that way, he got closer and began to strike her. During the attack, Carlos repeatedly struck Tahiry multiple times while attempting to drag her by her hair. It took seven to eight men to pull him off of her,” said a source.

Yesterday, Tahiry opened up about the attack on Instagram and explained that her attack is another prime example of misogyny rearing its ugly head in our society.

“Thank you ALL for your well wishes. I am both appreciative and grateful to have you on my team and call you #teamtahiry! I am sincerely touched by your outpouring of love. As you may or may not know, on Monday, Sept. 8, I was attacked,  assaulted and violated, while in the workplace, by a man. I was beaten because I am woman with a voice and refuse to be disrespected. It is more proof that the violence against women is real and needs to be addressed publicly. The shaming and disrespecting of women/victims of violent abuses must stop. Violence against women must stop; a women’s voice and refusal to be disrespected is not grounds for physical abuse. #iamwoman #myvoicematters More to the point, I am home, healing and surrounded by love. Rest assured, I will continue all my efforts and endeavors with the same faith, determination, passion and spirit I have always possessed. Again, thank you! You are ALL heroes of mine! Love, Tahiry,” she wrote.

We never condone violence, whether it be against a woman or a man, and we hope that justice is served in this incident. And we’re sure more details will be revealed in the coming days about the attack. – nicholas robinson
