The Dharma Wheel (wheel of law) is the most recognized Buddha symbol. Its eight spokes signify the eightfold path,* which is a means by which enlightenment is realized. Tradition teaches Buddha was the first to turn the wheel. He delivered his first sermon after his enlightenment (Nirvana).

- Samma-Ditthi (Right View) – Perfect vision, understanding
- Samma-Sankappa (Right Intention) – Perfect aspiration, right attitude
- Samma-Vaca (Right Speech) – Perfect speech, non-harmful communication
- Samma-Kammanta (Right Action) – Right action, non exploitation of self and others
- Samma-Ajiva (Right Livelihood) – Proper livelihood, non exploitation
- Samma-Vayama (Right Effort) – Full effort, energy or vitality, diligence
- Samma-Sati (Right Mindfulness) – Complete awareness, right mindfulness
- Samma-Samadhi (Right Concentration) – Holistic Samadhi, concentration, meditation, absorption or one-pointedness of mind.
