Deitrick’s redemption(s)
While still in Detroit, after connecting with his biological father’s side of the family, Deitrick still has one more hurdle to cross. He has to face the congregation of the church he pastored before his life fell apart and he headed to L.A. It had been two years since Deitrick last stepped foot in the church. Before giving his sermon, his dad held a special redemption ceremony for Deitrick along with Dominique and both of their children. Deitrick then gives a rousing and soul-stirring sermon about himself having to practice what he preached. After the redemption at his home church, Deitrick and Dominique head back to L.A. where he meets with Jay to try and bury the hatchet of their falling out. After some coaching from their respective wives, Deitrick and Jay go into the meeting with forgiving intentions. They both express their positions in the earlier confrontation and realize that neither of them meant for the situation to blow up. After heartfelt apologies on both sides, the two come to a good place and put it all behind them for good.
