Hip-hop star Rick Ross could be expanding his business empire. The mogul is head of Maybach Music Group, has a lucrative deal with Wing Stop and Belaire Rosé Champagne, and recently told Angie Martinez that he has his eyes set on becoming an owner with his hometown Miami Dolphins.
“I went and sat down with the Miami Dolphins,” Ross said this week. “We discussed a few things.”
The rapper went on to reveal that he’s had an interest in the team for a while.
“I’ve been interested in trying to buy a small percentage of the Dolphins for a long time,” said Ross. “They finally invited me into the office. I sat with some people. It was a real positive conversation.”
Ross says the move has yet to be finalized, but if it pans out, he would join the likes of Jay Z and Usher, who have all dabbled in sports ownership to varying degrees. Jay was a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets and Usher owned a stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jay sold his stake in the Nets to forge ahead with his Roc Nation Sports Management brand.
