Controversial Past
Cooper’s famed Gumball 3000 race had its share of problems in its earlier days. In 2007, two pedestrians in Macedonia died after being hit by a Gumball rally car. Also, Cooper’s Gumball race resulted in a number of participants, including rapper Xzibit, being cited for speeding, having their licenses taken, and having their cars confiscated. After some retooling of the annual race, things have smoothed themselves out considerably.
