For many, a good hunting buddy is hard to find. In Montana, Robert Saunders, 31, really liked his hunting buddy—  a bit too much. So much so, that when his friend refused his sexual advances, he pulled a knife.

According to police reports and victim statements, Saunders had been drinking and hunting all day. When they  got back to the victim’s home, Saunders grabbed him around his neck and pushed up against his body. It was then according to police reports that Saunders grabbed his friend’s groin area and said “You know what this is about.” The victim stated that he felt intimidated by Saunders and that the whole situation seemed sexual in nature. The victim refused to give in to Saunders’ repeated sexual advances and told him to leave his house. At one point Saunders “unsnapped the latch of a knife sheath he had on his hip.”

That’s when the victim said that he went for his own knife and held it in the air in a defensive position. No blows were exchanged and Saunders put his knife down and the victim was able to get him out of his house and lock the door. When police arrived and attempted to question Saunders regarding the incident, he was too intoxicated and barely able to stand. A breathalyzer recorded Saunders’ blood alcohol level at .306. He was charged with felony assault with a weapon and posted a $10,000 bond after 12 hours in jail.
