A military veteran, in September 2014, Willie Mayes pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, along with his daughter. He received a 10-year sentence. He will receive credit for time served and all but two years of his sentence is suspended.
Latiqwa will serve six years of her 10-year sentence behind bars for her role. She has been in solitary confinement, which is an 8-by-12-foot jail cell since her incarceration.
Presiding Judge Timothy Doory said Robinson’s offense did “not justify a call to the community to impose physical, violent retribution.”
Kwan Blackburn, 18, was one of the teens who ran over to stop Robinson. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was given a suspended sentence and four year’s probation.
