Remy Ma’s return from prison has been well-received by hip-hop artists and fans. The Bronx, New York, native served six and a half years for the shooting of a former associate back in 2007; prior to that, she was one of the hottest female rappers in the game. Her time in prison, her marriage to fellow hip-hop star Papoose, her feuds with other prominent rappers and her return have all made for quite the compelling story.
And she tells Sway that she thinks her story should hit the big screen.
“I want to do a movie about my life,” Remy said. “I think a lot of females go through things I’ve been through but they’re too ashamed to admit what they’ve gone through. They’re holding up this facade like I’m [the] fliest chick and I got this and this guy is on me but they never show the reality of what you go through as a woman, as a black woman, as a black woman that comes from nothing.”
It doesn’t appear that the former first lady of Terror Squad has anything in development, but she’s still putting in the work to resurrect her musical career.
Remy recently released her latest mixtape, I’m Around, to raves from fans.
