A male nurse at Palm Springs Hospital in Palm Springs, Florida, allegedly violated a patient who was in his care. According to “Local 10,” Rene Martinez, 51, was taking care of a male patient in September.
The patient was being treated for leg and back pain at the hospital. While sedated and drowsy, Martinez walked into the patient’s room and began fondling his genitals. The patient opened his eyes and asked Martinez what was going on. Startled, Martinez told the patient he was checking to see if he was OK.
The patient placed his cellphone on his shoulder and began recording. Martinez left the room and returned moments later. The patient pretended to be sleep. Martinez then touched the patient’s penis and began playing with it. He later told the patient he could make good money by showing his penis at a local hotel.
The patient said he was distraught by the sexual advances and told authorities. Martinez was arrested and police found sexually explicit websites that featured men on his cellphone.
Martinez was charged with sexual battery. The patient has filed a multimillion dollar lawsuit against the hospital.
