R&B star Ginuwine is secretly facing bankruptcy
Another day, another celebrity faces financial hardship…
Although Ginuwine may have seemed like he was back on track with his new group, TGT, nothing can be further from the truth. According to the New York Daily News, a new lawsuit filed against the “Pony” singer claims that the 44-year-old is flat broke, bringing in just enough to support his ex-wife, Solé and their beautiful babes.
“Mr. Lumpkin is very close to declaring bankruptcy,” Ginuwine’s lawyer, Bruce Beckner, said. “He owes my firm a ton of money and a bunch of other people a ton of money. He owes Uncle Sam 300-odd thousand dollars in back income taxes,” NY Daily News reports.
Beckner continued to claim, that Ginuwine’s recent divorce from wife, Tonya “Solé” Lumkpin, is what wiped out his finances. While it’s no secret that Ginuwine and Solé have been experiencing marital mishap for quite some time now, most were unaware of their quiet divorce.
As for the lawsuit filed against, Ginuwine, real name Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, Robert Reives, executive producer of his hit debut album, The Bachelor, says he is owed “royalties from a $1.25 million five-album deal Ginuwine signed with Sony, and seeks as much as $250,000.”
Ginuwine, however, argues that Reives’ claim falls outside the statute of limitations, and isn’t owed a penny.
Both parties are set to argue their case in Manhattan Federal Court Monday.
At this point, should there be any truth to Reives claim, if Ginuwine decides to file for bankruptcy, he could very well see the grievance dismissed. How do you think Ginuwine should move forward?
