Swizz Beatz teamed up with SCOPE and VH1 as the host DJ for the VH1 + SCOPE party at Art Basel. During the event, Swizz Beatz played a set that featured EDM, hip-hop, rock ‘n’ roll and reggae.

But beyond the music, Swizz Beatz understands why art is vital to hip-hop. When he isn’t producing or deejaying, Beatz creates art. During Art Basel, Beatz curated “The Dean Collection.”

The exhibit featured art from artists such as Sandra Chevrier, D*FACE, Swoon, and Cleon Peterson.

Before the event Swizz Beatz spoke with rolling out to discuss the importance of hip-hop and art.

“It’s important for music and art to unite,” Beatz said. “It’s all related and the world must see more of it. My art is a form of expression that can show the world something positive. The sky is not the limit, it’s a view.”
