Michael Sam

Former Missouri defensive lineman Michael Sam made history when he came out as gay in interviews with ESPN’s “Outside the Lines” and the New York Times in February. The All-American defensive lineman and Associated Press SEC Defensive Player of the Year entered the NFL Draft and became NFL’s first openly gay active player in history. Although Sam was eventually picked up and cut by both the St. Louis Rams and the Dallas Cowboys, his star power is still strong and he hopes to sign with a team in the future.
