Michael Doherty should never have been allowed to patrol Boston with a gun and a badge. According to The Boston Globe, Doherty assaulted a Black and a Hispanic man while off duty.
On Jan. 4, Doherty decided to take Uber. During his trip, he became upset with the Hispanic driver after telling him he was going the wrong way. Doherty began yelling at the driver and called him a “stupid s—.”
The driver stopped the vehicle after Doherty began hitting him. He jumped out of the car and attempted to flag down another motorist for help. A Black man stopped and attempted to keep Doherty calm. Doherty then began yelling at the Black motorist and said, “What do you want you stupid n—–.’
Doherty then knocked the Hispanic driver to the ground and began hitting him repeatedly. Police eventually arrived on the scene and Doherty ran. However, police later arrested him at his home.
Doherty, a 16-year police veteran, has been banned from Uber and charged with assault and battery.
