Talk about having the last laugh.
Five years ago, on Jan. 30, 2010, sports reporter and Vanderbilt Law School graduate Clay Travis watched as the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and their young star, DeMarcus Cousins, took on his alma mater. During the game, Travis inexplicably sent out the following tweet about Cousins:
Fast-forward to this past weekend, which marked five years since the tweet had been sent.
Not only has Cousins not been arrested, but he was also named to his first NBA All-Star team the very same day.
Cousins apparently never forgot the jab and made mention of it five years to the day by sending out a tweet that read “Today’s the day!! Let’s all show him some love!! @ClayTravisBGID”.
Of course, Cousins’ followers had a field day in Travis’ mentions.
The pair both agreed that there were no hard feelings and Travis offered to make a $5,000 donation to any charity of Cousins’ choosing. Cousins encouraged him to send his donation to The Reggie Evans Foundation, which serves to provide resources to underprivileged communities.
