Once upon a time People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals extremists would throw red paint on people they caught out and about in fur. Thankfully, that excessive approach has more or less been discarded but activists for the group are not opposed to issuing statements to the press that voice their displeasure.
The latest stars to feel PETA’s wrath are Chris Brown and his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Karrueche Tran.
During New York Fashion Week, the couple was spotted at the Michael Costello show rocking massive fur coats. Once pictures of the pair hit the Internet, it didn’t take long for PETA to take note.
The organization issued a statement condemning Brown’s fashion choices and even went so far as to take a shot at his troubled past:
“There are few things more out of touch than draping yourself in the skins of animals who were beaten, electrocuted, and even skinned alive for their fur. Pink’s New York Fashion Week PETA billboard shows that true beauty comes from kindness — Chris Brown’s furs are just more of the same from him: ugly violence.”
So far, Brown has yet to make a statement or issue a response on the matter.
