Vera Thompson, 89, was napping in her home when she was awakened by a commotion. Several police officers busted out her window, kicked down her door, and burned her carpet with a flash bang. Moreover, the officers also pulled guns on Thompson and aimed them at her face.
According to a report by West Palm Beach 5, Riviera Beach, Florida, police raided Thompson’s home because of reported drug activity at her home. Thompson, a breast cancer survivor, lives alone.
Police said confidential agents bought drugs from a home, but they didn’t list an address in the official police report. The incident report was filed six weeks after the raid and two days after a local news outlet questioned authorities regarding the matter. Also, a search warrant for Thompson’s home was filed 10 days after the raid was executed.
It’s clear that police officers violated the law and should be investigated.
Two months after the raid, Thompson has not received an apology and her door, window and carpet have yet to be repaired.
