This past weekend President Barack Obama’s top adviser, Valerie Jarrett, was accused of leaking to the press that former first lady Hillary Clinton was using a personal email address during her time as Secretary of State. White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters on Monday during the daily press briefing, it’s “baloney”.

Sources told media the timing of the leak couldn’t have been more strategic as Clinton was due to announce her bid for the Oval Office.

The story is a tangled web. According to the White House grapevine, Obama and Jarrett have already shared with Clinton his administration will remain neutral and will not provide her full backing. Also, Jarrett reportedly has promised to lean support toward Martin O’Malley, the former governor of Maryland, and Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts if they in the 2016 election.

Jarrett also supposedly worked to get Monica Lewinsky high-profile press opportunities and frequently complained about the Clintons. These alleged actions are retaliatory because she believes the Clintons are not “true blue liberals” and the “marginalizing the president” and were “trying to wrestle control of the Democratic Party away from Obama.” As a result, during the midterm elections many members of the Democrat Party refused to be seen campaigning with President Obama.
