The age old adage “You can always go home” held true this weekend as the family friendly Home swept away the weekend box office leaving buddy flick Get Hard far back in its rearview mirror.

Dreamworks’ animated feel-good story featuring voice-over leads Jim Parsons and Rihanna made a strong showing with $54 million earned. The film marks Dreamworks’ biggest opening since inking its new distribution deal with 20th Century Fox in 2013. It’s unclear if Warner Bros. execs anticipated Home doing so well, but nonetheless reports indicate they are pleased with the Will Ferrell/Kevin Hart buddy comedy Get Hard’s second place showing of $34.6 million. Last week’s No. 1 film, The Divergent Series: Insurgent fell to No. 3 with a respectable $27 million. Buena Vista’s Cinderella raked in an additional $17.5 million to place fourth. And rounding out the top five was horror flick It Follows, which shot up from No. 19 last week following its nationwide release.

Of note, films six through 10 are all separated by a little more than $1 million dollars with Will Smith’s Focus just narrowly falling out of the top 10 to land at No. 11 with $1.3 million in its fifth week at the box office.
