Cheo Hodari Coker to head Netflix production of ‘Luke Cage’

Netflix recently announced that respected journalist and TV producer Cheo Hodari Coker (NCIS, Ray Donovan) has been tapped to executive produce and run the production of Luke Cage, the upcoming series based on the street hero.

The series, which is being produced in conjunction with Disney’s Marvel Television, will star Mike Colter (Men In Black 3, The Good Wife) in the title role. Colter is expected to guest on the Marvel series A.K.A. Jessica Jones before seguing into the Luke Cage show.


Coker will write the series’ first two episodes in their entirety before collaborating with other writers.

In addition to putting in time as a contributor to Essence, Rolling Stone and Vice, Coker is also known for his many works on the life of legendary rapper Notorious B.I.G. including writing the biopic Notorious and penning the book, Unbelievable: The Life, Death, and Afterlife of The Notorious B.I.G.


Luke Cage will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2016.
