V. Stiviano made headlines in 2014 after she exposed Donald Sterling as a racist. Stiviano taped Sterling and released the audio of the former L.A. Clippers owner making hateful comments about Blacks and Magic Johnson.
But while Stiviano played an important role in getting Sterling banned from the NBA, she will now have to find a new way to earn income. Stiviano dated Sterling for years and he provided her with luxury gifts such as cash, cars and condos.
He gave her a Ferrari, Bentley, Range Rover, and a $1.8 million Beverly Hills duplex. She also spent over $100,000 on Sterling’s credit card.
However, Sterling’s wife, Shelly Sterling, will laugh last. In an attempt to get revenge on the woman who dated her husband, Shelly took Stiviano to court and sued her for every asset that she received from Donald.
Shelly argued to the court that Donald didn’t have the right to give Stiviano those gifts. According to California law, assets can’t be given as gifts for less than their fair value without spousal consent when marriage is involved.
As a result, the court ruled in Shelly’s favor and Stiviano will have to pay back $2.6 million. The money is meaningless to Shelly, who recently sold the Clippers for $2 billion. Shelly received the bulk of the money from the Clippers sale after she declared her husband mentally incapacitated.
