The Met Gala red carpet is one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year and one to behold. Hosted by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the annual event does more than just raise funds, it raises brows, profiles and expectations by fans of celebrities who brave the red carpet. Met Gala 2015 marks the grand opening of this year’s Costume Institute’s annual fashion exhibit: “China: Through the Looking Glass,” a look at Chinese fashion through the ages.
Celebrities who graced the lens of paparazzi included Beyoncé, gasp, wearing a peekaboo custom Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci adorned with multicolored crystals and stones. You couldn’t miss Kerry Washington in Prada; Naomi Campbell in a sequinned floor-length custom Burberry gown with a plunging neckline; Sarah Jessica Parker in a one-shoulder satin dress, a design she collaborated on with H&M and a Philip Treacy Custom headdress; Kim Kardashian in Roberto Cavalli; Justin Bieber in Balmain and last but not least, Rihanna who stopped the traffic on Sesame Street dressed opulently in a bright yellow fur trimmed robe designed by Chinese designer Guo Pei, a matching headpiece bedazzled with swirls of royal gold. She put Big Bird to shame.
