NeNe breaks down
When Dr. Jeff joins the ladies, NeNe explains to him that she felt it was unfair of him to single her out as the whipping boy in the counseling session. She says that everybody in the room talked about their past pain and issues, but talked to her as if she’s never struggled in her past. As NeNe talks about being abandoned by her mother, never being claimed by her father, and being betrayed by other women on the show, she begins to shed tears and eventually goes silent. While the other ladies argue about what went wrong in the counseling session, NeNe breaks down and repeatedly says “I can’t talk about my mom.” Phaedra, Cynthia, Kenya, Porsha and Dr. Jeff rush to her side and NeNe is escorted out to cry. When Andy asks what went wrong, Gregg comes in and explains that NeNe’s mother had five kids but couldn’t raise them all. So she sent NeNe and her brother away to live with her aunt. Gregg says that NeNe has always been haunted with the question of why she had to be one of the kids that her mother sent away. Outside, the ladies all tell NeNe how proud they are of her success and her vulnerability, and NeNe is finally able to walk into the reunion. When everyone sits back down, the ladies all tell NeNe why they have more in common than they believe and why they just want to finally make peace and be happy around each other.
