Aside from a role in The Expendables 3, veteran actor Wesley Snipes hasn’t worked much since being released from prison in 2013, but it looks as though that may soon change.

Snipes has been tapped to star in a new dramatic series for NBC called “The Player.”

Industry insider site Cinema Blend describes the show as the following: “Flashy and seemingly fantastic, The Player will follow Alex Kane, a smarta– security consultant played by Philip Winchester. He’s forced into a situation where he meets Johnson and Cassandra, two intriguing figures played by Wesley Snipes and Charity Wakefield, respectively. They hope to bring Mr. Kane into their secret crew, an organization which allows them to ‘professionally gamble’ on crime. Here’s how that bit of insanity works. Apparently, a bunch of rich people physically gamble on the team’s ability to stop major crimes in their tracks, before they actually happen.”

Produced by Bharat Nallu, John Davis, John Fox, and John Rogers, which will more than likely have hit show “The Blacklist ” as a lead in, has actually been in development for months originally having the working title of “Endgame.” Rogers, who wrote the script, later changed the name to “The Player” and got network approval.

“The Player” is set to debut in the fall on NBC..
