The family of slain rapper and French Montana affiliate Lionel “Chinx” Pickens, is asking for the public’s help in making sure his children are taken care of financially.
Chinx’s manager, Douglas Ellison, has put together a Go Fund Me campaign (www.gofundme.com/chinxmusic) to help raise money. All monies donated will be put into a trust fund for Picken’s children. Thus far the campaign has tallied about $10,000 of its $100,000 goal.
The description on the Go Fund Me page reads: “The hip-hop community lost a rising star: Lionel ‘Chinx’ Pickens was gunned down in the early morning hours of May 17, 2015. A father, husband, son and brother, Chinx leaves behind a legacy of music for his fans. He was truly a great life cut short. As Chinx’ extended family, please consider helping out his family during this devastating time. This fund will be established to provide some financial support for the tough road ahead.”
Pickens was killed in a drive-by shooting on May 17 as he sat in his Porsche on a street in Queens, New York.
Reports indicated that Chinx, a member of French Montana’s Coke Boys crew, was with two friends shortly before the shooting occurred. He had just dropped one friend off at a subway station when a car traveling in the opposite direction pulled alongside the the car and opened fire. Chinx was shot 15 times in the barrage and died a short time later at an area hospital. The other passenger in the car, Antar “Yemen Cheese” Alziadi, is listed in critical condition.
Authorities are still investigating the shooting and have no suspects in custody.
Funeral arrangements for Chinx are scheduled for Tuesday, May 26 at The Greater Allen A.M.E Cathedral of New York.
