Since hitting the scene in 1993 with their now hard to find debut album, Organix, The Roots have been one of hip-hop’s most envelope-pushing, yet consistent and bankable acts.

With 11 studio albums to date and high profile positioning as the official band for The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the Philadelphia collective also known as The Legendary Roots Crew, has undoubtedly earned their place in the history books and will soon be recognized by their hometown in a very big way.

The band, headed up by Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson and Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, have been selected to be inducted into the prestigious Philadelphia Walk of Fame this fall.

Other inductees include Broadway actress Andrea McArdie, Billie Holiday, glam band Cinderella, radio announcer Harvey Holiday, Ray Benson, and disco group The Tramps.

The Philadelphia Walk of Fame ceremony and gala will be held at Philly’s Fillmore Theater on October 26.
