A man became violent because he saw other men wearing skinny jeans. According to reports by the L.A. Times, Timothy Brownell, 25, became upset when he saw several men walking on the street wearing skinny jeans.

Brownell began walking behind the men in Sacramento, Calafornia, yelling homophobic slurs. He then approached the men and pulled out a knife. Brownell stabbed one man near his spleen, and on his throat and arms. Another man suffered a broken arm and minor cuts during the attack. In all, three men were attacked but didn’t receive life-threatening injuries.

The men are musicians in the Sacramento area and wear skinny jeans as a fashion statement. In recent years, rappers such as Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, and Drake have worn skinny jeans. Since the attack, supporters of the men who were stabbed have started a fundraising program called “I wear skinny jeans.”

Brownell was arrested and charged with a hate crime. He is currently out on bail.
