Undocumented trans Latina leader Jennicet Gutierrez gained national attention this week when she interrupted President Obama while he spoke at a White House event honoring LGBT Pride Month on Wednesday. Now, after facing a mountain of criticism and scrutiny, Gutierrez is speaking out and explaining why she so passionately interrupted the president.
As most know, Gutierrez interrupted Obama to protest the high number of gay, lesbian and transgender immigrants that have been deported under the Obama administration. After being kicked out by Obama, Gutierrez later opened up about the incident and she even wrote an open letter for the Washington Blade about why she chose to publicly challenge Obama.
