Fans of “The Prancing Elites Project” rejoice! All five members have signed on with Oxygen to return for a second season, rolling out has confirmed.
Fueled by ratings success, Oxygen has announced the renewal of the critically acclaimed docu-series, which will be expanded from 30 minutes to an hour-long format. All five members – Adrian Clemons, Kentrell Collins, Kareem Davis, Jerel Maddox and Tim Smith – will return. In line with the network’s new plan to target young, multicultural women, the series delves into the personal and professional lives of an African American, gay and gender non-conforming dance troupe from Mobile, Alabama as they challenge societal norms with passion and wit.
The reality show was also the network’s highest-rated series premiere since its rebrand in October 2014. Not too shabby! But that’s not it; these fellas have also reached cross-platform success, generating more than 94 million total impressions on Twitter and Facebook alone, as well as 10 million total engagements over the course of the season, thus far. In other words, they are a social media hit!
“The Prancing Elites’ unique and emotional journey is a resounding hit with Oxygen’s diverse, millennial audience. Their ability to face uphill battles with determination and humor allows viewers to not only relate to them, but also be inspired by them,” said Rod Aissa, executive vice president of Original Programming and Development, Oxygen Media. “We are proud to keep sharing the group’s authentic story as they continue to reach for their dreams now more than ever on the heels of the most monumental Pride month in our country’s history.”
And although season one has come to an end, your favorite, flavorful pack of dynamic dancers will return to your small screen sooner than later. Will you be watching?
