And with one humble tweet, the Nicki Minaj vs. Taylor Swift war of 2015 has come to an end.
On Thursday morning, Swift acknowledged via a tweet that she jumped the gun in assuming Minaj’s tweets about being snubbed for the VMA Video of the Year award were somehow slights against her.
“I thought I was being called out,” Swift tweeted. “I missed the point, I misunderstood, then misspoke. I’m sorry, Nicki.”
Swift’s itchy Twitter finger kicked off a series of back-and-forth exchanges among celebrities such as Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, and even Whoopi Goldberg, who all took various sides in the matter. Some expressed their opinion of Swift inserting herself into a situation that was not meant for her and then playing the victim.
Nonetheless, just under an hour after Swift extended her olive branch, Minaj took the high road and accepted and thanked her for the apology to bring the issue to a close.
“That means so much Taylor, thank you” Minaj replied with heart emojis for added effect.
We can only wonder if Swift will still be bold enough to invite Minaj on stage with her if she wins the Video of the Year award.
MTV’s VMAs will air on Sunday, Aug. 30.
