What VMA snub?
Just weeks after having it out with MTV over snubbing “Anacanda” and “Feeling Myself” in the Video of the Year category, Nicki Minaj receives the honor of being frozen in time. On Tuesday, the 32-year-old’s likeness was the center of a larger display, depicting a moment from her hugely successful “Anaconda” video, at Madame Tussauds in Las Vegas; which was officially unveiled in the Music Room.
According to reports, more than 20 people were involved with the clay creation over a period of six months. First sculpted in clay to precise measurements taken from the artist, the wax figure was created in a plaster cast with details like long, jet-black hair and piercing eyes. Dressed in a gold bikini top with black bottoms and high-heeled sandals the wax model’s outfit comes straight from the video, which has been viewed almost 500 million times to date.
Real dancers were also on hand for the unveiling, wearing costumes similar to those which appeared in the video — to flank Nicki’s waxwork. A pleasantly surprised Minaj gushed over her Madame Tussauds waxwork figure via Instagram writing, “YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WTF?!?!?!?!??!?? Had no idea they were really doing this. I would’ve went to Vegas for this. #HappyBirthdayAnaconda,” she wrote along with a video of the figure. “I love it and I can’t wait to see it,’ she added with a still shot of the figurine. ‘Lol this looks like a human.Wtf. #HappyBirthdayAnaconda my Wax figure is now in VEGAS.”
And while Minaj has yet to see the artwork, she was not reluctant to share a few snaps of the wax figure via Instagram. Check them out in the gallery below.
