The impact of Detroit’s resurgence on African-American lifestyle and business was prevalent during a rooftop event on Friday night at Music. The excitement in the city is a great example of what it takes to thrive in a town that is made of steel.

From Motown to GM, these international brands are forging a new future for Detroit. Mindful of the city’s bankruptcy, I took a stroll through the city. When I approached the rooftop of the venue after riding up an elevator, the smiles that looked my way were filled with energy and everyone’s eyes were dancing. Attendees were African-American artists, real estate brokers, business owners, designers and more. The resurrection of Detroit’s vibrant spirit was on display. Those were the individuals who make Detroit special. The rooftop party is just an example of the day party exchange. But it’s the party that is going on in the streets that echoes the attitude of most of Detroit: “We are still the best city in the country.”

From engineers and doctors to chemists, the Detroit day party posted the best on this perch. Known as an inviting location to cultural enthusiasts, Music provided a beautiful garden rooftop venue. The bartenders were moving mixologists with all the accoutrements. And the DJ blasted his wonderful sounds and gave a call for success to continue.

Detroit has all the new ideas that everyone is looking for from Internet startups to new vegan restaurants to a phenomenal cigar bar that is around the corner from the Detroit Music Hall.
