Fetty Wap might be having the best week ever.
The Patterson, NJ rapper recently announced plans to give a free concert to 1,200 high school students from his hometown. Fetty, along with other RGF rappers, will deliver a show on the football field of his former school, Eastside High, if the weather holds, with the school’s gymnasium designated if the concert must occur indoors.
Scheduled to take place on August 27, tickets will be available for students who attend any of Patterson’s six high schools on August 24.
In addition to the sorely needed positive press for the rapper, Billboard just announced that he is now among elite company in hip hop history books.
Fetty is now one of only eight rappers to have four songs in the top ten of the Hot Rap Chart at the same time. The last rapper to achieve that feat was 50 Cent over a decade ago.
Even more reason for Fetty to celebrate is the fact that he’s the first and only hip hop artist to ever have his first four singles achieve the distinction. His debut single, “Trap Queen,” currently holds the number two spot. “My Way” is right behind it at number three. “679” is holding steady at the fifth spot, and his latest single, “Again,” just entered the charts at number eight to complete the feat.
Undoubtedly the hottest rapper in the game at the moment, one has to wonder how/if Fetty Wap can keep up the momentum.
