Caitlyn and Kris Jenner have had a rocky past year. Besides divorcing in December of last year, the former couple were thrust into the public spotlight again this year when Jenner transitioned into a woman, leaving many fans to look at Kris with pity. Making matters worse was the fact that the two suffered a public rift that has divided their family. The two are now starting to fix issues, but on the upcoming episode of “I Am Cait,” fans get to see how rough it was when the two finally came face to face for the first time in months.
As previously reported, the rift really blew up after Caitlyn transitioned and she claimed that her divorce from Kris was less about her gender transition and more about the way Kris treated her.
“A lot of times she wasn’t very nice,” Caitlyn said in an interview with Vanity Fair. “People would see how I got mistreated. She controlled the money … all that kind of stuff. Twenty percent was gender and 80 percent was the way I was treated.”
However, Kris disagreed, saying Caitlyn was the cause of their breakup.
“He was married to me and he wasn’t who he wanted to be so he was miserable … All I was doing was working very hard for my family so that we could all have a wonderful future, and he was pissed off,” she said.
Making matters worse was the fact that Caitlyn also claimed Kris had a greater degree of knowledge of her desire to become a woman than she let on. However, Kris claims that Caitlyn’s transition came as a shock to her.
For months, the two seemed to avoid each other and Caitlyn reportedly didn’t even invite Kris to this year’s ESPY Awards to watch her receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award. The rift even began to affect their famous Kardashian daughters, who all confronted Caitlyn and criticized her for mistreating Kris and for allegedly being a diva.
However, reports claimed in July that Caitlyn and Kris finally reunited to hash things out and in a new clip for Sunday night’s episode of “I Am Cait,” Caitlyn and Kris finally come together for the first time in months to talk out their problems.
“I don’t know if we’ll resolve anything but I should probably get some things off my chest,” Caitlyn is overheard saying during the clip.
“We’ve moved on, both of us, but I don’t want to throw all of the good times away. And for the kids, Kendall and Kylie, I don’t want tension. I don’t want to put them in a tough position. This is really very, very difficult,” Caitlyn adds.
In a previous clip for the episode, Kris is seen crying as she explains to Caitlyn why she’s been so hurt since Caitlyn’s transition.
“You’re sensitive and amazing to all these new people in your life, you’re just not so sensitive and amazing to the family that you left behind,” Kris said. “When you feel like you gave your whole life to somebody and the sum of it all was you were a distraction…”
However, Caitlyn defended herself, claiming, “It was a distraction from the sense of who I was, it doesn’t mean I didn’t love you or the kids.”
Well, we know these two are currently working out their issues, but it’s going to be interesting having a front row seat to such a personal and painful conversation.
