Lupita Nyong’o lands her second Vogue cover and it’s by far one of the most strikingly beautiful covers we’ve seen in years…
The 12 Years A Slave actress resembled a golden goddess clad in Valentino on her second Vogue cover, which hits newsstands next Tues., Sept. 22. “What an honor, joy and THRILL it was to work on this October issue!” the 32-year-old Oscar winner gushed to her 1.7M Instagram followers.
Styled by Tonne Goodman with Schiaparelli House and the Picasso Museum in Paris as her backdrop, Nyong’o delivered high fashion in breathtaking, embellished looks by Valentino Haute Couture and Givenchy. Inspired by Roman art and culture, the Non-Stop star’s cover look consisted of a gold leather gown with strategic cutouts and long flowing panels… perfectly complementing her radiant skin tone.
Inside the pages, the Kenyan-raised beauty recalled how as a teen, her skin tone was “too dark” to be on TV. “No. It didn’t ring true. I just thought, I need to find another way,” said the Brooklyn-based beauty, who’s a member of one of the darkest-skinned African tribes, Luo.
“I realized that my skin color was making some people see me differently,” the Mexican-born actress continued, recalling how the discrimination continued while she attended Hampshire College at age 20. “As Africans, we don’t grow up with a racial identity. We grow up with cultural and ethnic identity before racial identity. I never used the word black as a child. It was never a thing. When was I ever discussing black? Why?”
Now a big screen star and fashion icon, Nyong’o fronts Lancôme and has graced the cover of several publications including Elle, W Magazine, Dujour, Marie Claire, V Magazine, Glamour and Bazaar, to name a few…
