Ever since his ex-fiancée Ciara began dating Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, most of the coverage on the couple as it relates to Future has made him appear to be a bitter and spiteful ex-spouse that takes every opportunity to throw salt at the seemingly blissful pair.

A few months back news begin to spread that Future had a huge issue with Wilson being around he and CiCi’s infant son. Among other things, he felt as though his son was being used for publicity. In a recent interview with XXL magazine, the “Honest” rapper says it’s not so much of him having a problem with Wilson, but more that he feels Ciara is indeed using their son to keep the media’s attention:

“I’m telling you right now, I’m giving you two sides. Like, I’m cool with it. I’m cool with him being around him but certain situations, we all in the public eye, you can’t move around with my son a certain kind of way, you know what I’m saying? … Even if I didn’t care about it, the people have a way of looking at it. Why would you want to give these people an opinion on our kid? Why won’t we just let our child be a child?

Future went on say that he never really got to know Wilson, which is part of a bigger problem he’s had with Ciara: he feels left out of certain important parenting decisions:

“I want to be able to judge him for myself. I want to judge the nannies that [are] around my child. I don’t want to pay for a nanny that I never met, that I never got a chance to interview. That’s not the life I want for my child. I want to be involved 100 percent in all decisions made.”

Future’s latest album, DS2, is still riding high on the Billboard charts and his recently released joint mixtape with Drake, What a Time to Be Alive, is expected to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 with over 500,000 units sold.
