While Anthony Anderson’s career seems to be on the rise, it appears his personal life has taken a hit. The “Black-ish” star’s wife, Alvina Stewart, has filed for divorce from the actor, citing the ever-so-popular “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split, reports TMZ.
The couple who married in 1995, are high school sweethearts. They have two children, Kyra Anderson, 19, and Nathan Anderson, 15. According to court documents Alvina is asking for joint legal custody of the minor with primary physical custody. Anderson will receive more than “reasonable visitation.” She is also requesting spousal support.
Anderson’s rep tells E! News, “Yes, the divorce papers are public record and they have been separated for some time now.”
Although the divorce filing may come as a surprise to most, it appears that it was a long time coming: Stewart originally filed for separation on April 1, 2014. Despite trouble in paradise, Anderson appeared at the 2015 Emmy Awards on Sunday night with his son Nathan, looking dapper as ever.
Sadly, Anderson and his wife join a long list of celebrity couples who have split this year. Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, Glenn Close, Terrence Howard (rumor), Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton and many more have all called it quits this year.
