Actress Zoe Saldana will soon be calling the shots from the other side of the camera per a new production deal inked with DreamWorks’ AwesomenessTV.
Under the new deal, the 37-year-old actress will produce original content targeted towards millennial moms for the forthcoming digital network Awestruck.
Saldana, along with sisters Mariel and Cisely, will produce both scripted and unscripted shows under the umbrella of their production company Cinestar. The sisters will also create a Cinestar YouTube channel for the Awestruck multichannel network.
“With modern moms on-the-go and online, the opportunity to create content specifically for them is exciting,” said Saldana. “The team behind Awestruck has already proven their expertise in reaching young audiences with AwesomenessTV, and we are thrilled to partner with them to collaborate on this new promising venture.”
According to Awestruck exec Sarah Penna, Saldana was a perfect fit for the network and its goals.
“Zoe epitomizes the talent we are seeking for Awestruck,” Penna said. “She marries a strong creative vision and an existing fan base with the experience of being a new mom.”
Awestruck will launch this fall and be available on Facebook, YouTube, and Verizon Wireless’ Go90 mobile-centric video service.
