There was a big fuss earlier this year when fans learned that Michel’le wouldn’t be included in the highly-successful NWA biopic, Straight Outta Compton. At the time, Michel’le explained that she understood why her violent relationship with Dr. Dre wasn’t featured in the film, but now it’s been revealed that the relationship, as well the rest of her life story, will be told in a TV biopic.
According to Variety, Thinkfactory Media will produce a biopic with the working title “Girl from the Hood,” which will focus on the music and hard times of Michel’le’s life, including the domestic abuse she suffered at the hands of Dre.
As most fans know, Michel’le had abusive relationships with both Suge Knight and Dr. Dre and she’s spoken extensively this year about the abuse she endured with Dre.
“I was getting dragged on the floor, shot at,” Michel’le said about one violent incident in an interview with Vlad TV. “One night we was [sic] arguing. He went and got the gun. And I just made it through the bathroom door and the shot — and he shot at me and he missed me by that much. He almost hit [me]. He shot at me … I left the bullet in the hole and it went out — it was in the door and then it went through the side of the wall in the bathroom. And I left it there for a while, just so he could see it. But he never tried to shoot me anymore. Thank God. But the beatings were —[there were] a lot …”
Dre has since issued an apology to Michel’le as well as former TV personality Dee Barnes, who he also assaulted in the ’90s.
The report also reveals that Michel’le and Thinkfactory will collaborate on a documentary of her life, as well.
“I am so excited about my partnership with Thinkfactory Media. For many years I was unwilling to share my personal experiences. I am now ready to open up about my career, relationships and family,” Michel’le said in a statement.
Considering how dramatic Michel’le’s life has been, we’ve no doubt this TV project will garner some major ratings.
