Powerful! Mount Zion Baptist Church’s Bishop Joseph W. Walker III penned “Reset Your Life: Make a New Start,” encouraging readers to strengthen their relationship with God and be on fire for the Lord. The eight keys begin with the letter R: Reset, Recognize, Reassess and Recalibrate, Reclaim and Rededicate, Reinvent and Resurrect. A resident of Nashville and the international presiding bishop of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, Walker expounds on biblical scripture and stories as the foundation for each key.

“Are you content to operate at less than your capacity? Or are you willing to reset?” asks the author on page 17. From the moment this writer read this entry, I couldn’t put this book down. Speed read to page 40 and the author makes a strong case, “…even the church doesn’t always create enough space for people. There are rules, regulations, and restrictions….” This account is why Christians have stopped attending Sunday morning church service and opting for other means of seeking God.

“This book is an outgrowth of my ministry and that of my church,” said Joseph, senior pastor of 30,000-member Nashville, Tenn. based Mt. Zion Baptist Church and presiding bishop of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International. “It aims to engage you in the process and possibilities of being reset. This book is God’s way of imparting what I like to refer to as GMC (His Grace, Mercy, and Compassion) as the mechanism that gives us second chances by allowing us to RESET and follow His will for our lives.”

Each compelling chapter ends with thought-provoking questions that push readers to meditate and reflect on the teachings. They’re meant “to allow you to draw on your knowledge, experience, failures and successes, disappointments, and dreams, for it is the only when you’re fully engaged that this three-way conversation can carry forward.”
