Now, this is touching.
This week, songbird Mariah Carey paid tribute to one of our icons, the late and great Whitney Houston. On Friday, the 45-year-old superstar took to Instagram to share a Flashback Friday post, honoring the “I Will Always Love You” singer with a vintage snap of the pair.
In the image, originally captured in 1998, the pop stars, who performed the iconic duet “When You Believe” for the DreamWorks animated film The Prince of Egypt, stand side-by-side while smiling ear-to-ear. It is a moment to cherish, as this was the last time the duo was photographed in this capacity.
Houston passed away in 2012, having accidentally drowned in the bathtub of her Beverly Hilton Hotel room. According to reports, contributing factors to her death included cocaine use and heart disease. Upon hearing the news, a crushed Carey expressed her devastation via Twitter, stating that she was “heartbroken and in tears” adding that, “She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”
Well said. Artists come and go … but icons are never forgotten. RIP, Whitney Houston!
